This Cookie Policy explains whether and how the website fidav.ch uses cookies and similar technologies. It forms part of, and should be read together with, our Privacy Policy. It is drafted in accordance with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (nFADP) and, for visitors from the European Union, with the GDPR (Reg. EU 2016/679) and the ePrivacy Directive 2002/58/EC.
1. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files that websites save on a user's device during browsing. Similar technologies (for example the browser's "localStorage") serve analogous functions. Cookies can be:
- technical or strictly necessary, essential for the operation or security of the website;
- non-essential (for example analytics or advertising), which in certain jurisdictions require the user's prior consent.
2. Fidav's Choice: a Website Without Tracking Cookies
The website fidav.ch is designed according to a privacy-first approach. We do not use profiling cookies, advertising cookies, tracking pixels or social widgets that follow users' browsing activity. For this reason the website does not display any cookie consent banner: there is no processing that, under applicable law, requires one.
While the GDPR and the ePrivacy Directive require prior consent only for cookies that are not strictly necessary, Swiss law (nFADP) does not provide a specific consent obligation for cookies but does require transparency: this page fulfils that obligation under both frameworks.
3. Cookie-Free Usage Statistics (Umami)
To measure website usage in aggregate form, we use Umami, a privacy-respecting analytics tool installed on a self-hosted infrastructure managed on our behalf in Switzerland/the European Union. Umami:
- does not install cookies on your device;
- does not store your IP address in identifiable form and does not create individual profiles;
- does not track your browsing across other websites;
- honours the "Do Not Track" signal from your browser;
- collects exclusively aggregated and anonymous statistical data.
Because Umami neither uses cookies nor identifies individual users, its use does not require your consent. Further details are available in the "Website Usage Statistics" section of the Privacy Policy.
4. Technical Infrastructure Cookies (Cloudflare)
The website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. For the sole purpose of security and protection against automated traffic (bots), the Cloudflare infrastructure may, under certain circumstances, set strictly technical cookies such as __cf_bm and cf_clearance. These cookies:
- are strictly necessary for the security of the website and, under applicable law, do not require prior consent;
- are not used for profiling or advertising and do not allow us to identify you;
- have a short duration.
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Duration | Category |
|---|---|---|---|---|
__cf_bm | Cloudflare | Distinguishes human users from bots (security) | ~30 minutes | Technical / strictly necessary |
cf_clearance | Cloudflare | Records that an anti-bot challenge has been passed | ~1 day | Technical / strictly necessary |
These cookies are set only when the security infrastructure activates the relevant checks; in many normal browsing sessions they are not installed.
5. The Contact Form Does Not Use Cookies
Submission of the contact form, handled on our behalf by Web3Forms (with servers in the European Union), does not result in the installation of tracking cookies. The processing of data you enter in the form is described in the Privacy Policy.
6. How to Manage Cookies
Since the website does not use cookies subject to consent, no action is required on your part. You may nonetheless manage or delete technical cookies, and set your preferences, via your browser settings. Disabling strictly necessary cookies may impair certain security functions of the website.
The following links explain how to manage cookies in the most widely used browsers: refer to the "Privacy" or "Settings" section of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge or Apple Safari.
7. Changes to this Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect technical, organisational or regulatory changes. The version published on fidav.ch is the current version; the date of the last update is indicated at the top of this page.
